Mr. Karim H. Kantar is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in both adult and paediatric spinal surgery. His expertise in spinal conditions has been honed through extensive training and experience at leading medical centers in Australia and North America. He trained under distinguished Orthopaedic & Neurological surgeons, gaining broad exposure to the latest techniques and technologies.
Mr. Kantar graduated from Flinders University School of Medicine and completed his Orthopaedic surgical training in South Australia & the Northern Territory. He then pursued a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Adult Spinal Surgery at Austin and Alfred Hospitals in Melbourne, followed by a Clinical Spine Fellowship at the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group and the Royal Children’s Hospital.
He further expanded his expertise in Canada, where he worked at the Children’s Hospital of British Columbia in Vancouver and received a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Spine Surgery from the University of British Columbia. During his time overseas, Mr. Kantar focused on managing complex deformities in both paediatric and adult patients, including innovative procedures such as vertebral body tethering for growth modulation.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Kantar is dedicated to education and research. He actively participates in the training of registrars and fellows, contributes to clinical research initiatives, and maintains membership in various professional societies, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of spinal surgery.
Mr. Kantar’s treatment philosophy emphasizes an individualised approach to spinal conditions. He employs specific diagnostic modalities to ensure accurate assessments and works collaboratively with patients to choose the least invasive treatment options available using the latest technologies.
