Matthew is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and knee.
Born in Gippsland, Matthew grew up in Melbourne and attained his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 1992. He subsequently completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training in Victoria, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.
In 2003 Matthew and his wife Kate travelled to Boston, Massachusetts where he undertook subspecialty fellowship training in knee surgery. This was followed by a second fellowship in London, England in 2004. This fellowship focussed on the shoulder, both arthroscopic and replacement surgery. Prior to returning to Melbourne to join the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group Matthew undertook a course in advanced Ilizarov frame technique in Italy .
Throughout his career Matthew has maintained an interest in orthopaedic research, and his work has been presented and published both nationally and internationally. Matthew’s practice now encompasses all facets of knee and shoulder surgery, with particular interest in the management of shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff repair surgery, and robotic assisted Knee Replacement surgery.
